and earned a Bachelor’s in Political Science and
Communications. She got her Master of Laws in Human
Rights and the Environment from Lancaster University in the
United Kingdom, and after returning decided with her

fight for environmental justice and collaborating with
Congressional offices on climate policy and corporate
accountability. Maryah helped unionize her workplace and
was elected to serve on the bargaining committee to win a
first contract. She has been an activist and community
organizer on a range of issues, and managed the successful

Chauncy Johnson, is 25 years old and was raised in Colorado Springs, CO, all his life. Raised by his great grandparents, they taught him great values: have dreams but be realistic with them! he learned that life is beneficial as long as you live with love and respect. As he marched in protest for lives not just dying across the country, but also here at home, it led him to work at the state capitol for multiple legislators. Now he wants to take all he has learned at the capital to run for city council.

She is eager to use her knowledge and experience of how the city works (and how things could be improved!) for the next four years. More than ever, she believes in the power of connection and the importance of listening and understanding each other. She knows that progress happens only when everyone is truly engaged in solution-building.
